I grew up in Akron, Ohio. A great place to grow up.

When I was 19, and a sophomore at Ohio State, I started working in the Ohio Senate. By the next year, I was a staffer first, student second.

So I got most of my education in the workplace. But most importantly, that’s where I learned I love writing.

After graduation, I started in PR on Capitol Hill, but I quickly fell out of love with politics—and DC.

So I moved to Chicago and started doing comms for The Department of Energy’s Midwest field office. It was more about story and less about spin, and it fit.

But life happens and careers take unexpected shifts. And after stints in client-side marketing, I joined a small agency. That was 14 years and 2 acquisitions ago.

Now, I’m at Dentsu Creative. Still telling stories and enjoying it more than I ever have since I learned to love it so long ago.
